Trampoline fun

This year the kids got a trampoline from their grandparents for Christmas. It has been MASSIVE fun! It is accidentally too big ( the smaller size was out of stock and we thought, how much bigger could it be?...turns out...MASSIVELY bigger!)

It has also taken a couple of victims:
a) Miss 3 got bumped off by Miss 7 before the net was put on (oops)
b) One of the kids'  uncles received a fat lip from kick in the face from Miss 3 (sorry!)
Also sorry for all the hysterical laughter and taunts about looking like the Elephant man!
c) Cousin who shall not be named said something happened to her uterus! (also sorry!)

Big fun though!

Miss Independence

My Miss 3 and a half starts kinder this week for real. Last week we had orientation and I stayed with her but this week I have to leave her for 2 and a half hours. I have never left her with anyone but close family so it’s a big deal. When we had to fill in the paperwork and explain our hopes and dreams for her…we both in reality thought…”we hope she doesn’t hit anyone” and “we hope she doesn’t poo in her undies!” Instead we put something about watching her grow and develop and make friends etc. etc. I know I am not Robinson Crusoe in saying this about my own daughter but I just love her so much I could burst at the seams. She is often our biggest challenge and we don’t know where the hell she came from!

I could burst at the seams at loving Miss 7 too but I cannot stop marvelling at how bloody different they are.
Miss 7 is our first…she’s an angel, she’s kind and thoughtful and sometimes whingey and talks ALL THE TIME…she has to have the last word and she loves to be loved. She’s a perfectionist and competitive (HATES to lose). She is AMAZING!
Miss 3.5 is headstrong, determined, feisty, demanding, hilarious, loves to dance and sing and is prone to hitting and tantrums. Her catch phrase is “I’ll do it myself” whereas Miss 7 will say, “will you help me?” Miss 3.5 is exasperating but sometimes I wonder why we don’t just “let her do it herself” more often. (Perhaps because sometimes that involves her helping herself to a handful of margarine from the fridge when you’ve already said no)

At a friend's baby's christening...helping herself to some pasta!

Doing the dishes!
I just want to say good luck to my little Missy for kinder …. I do really want to see her develop and blossom and thrive. I secretly love her dynamic, feisty and charismatic ways.

We just have to learn how to use her powers for good and not evil!

Smashing Summertime!

Well, I decided my word for 2012 is “fun” and it seems I have just been having too much of it to give my blog much attention! I also blame the school holidays, lack of routine, being addicted to my new ipad and ridiculous games like bakery story, fashion story and the like and also watching shows like “Homeland!” (my new favourite show BTW) In saying all that, I miss my blog and the sense of satisfaction I get out of it… so let’s see if I can get back into it!

This week I am very grateful for all the “fun” opportunities we have had over summer and am pleased to report that we pretty much smashed our “Things to do in the Summer Holidays” list. Here is our report card!

• Get Santa photo taken (done)

• Have a night “back in the big smoke” before Christmas (done)

• See the Myer Christmas windows (done)

• Have various friends/family come over for BBQs (smashed it)

• Go out for dinner (done)

• Go to Mirboo North (Latrobe Valley in Gippsland) and the local pool there. "The most beautiful pool in Gippsland" that the council is trying to close down. (Smashed it – awesome weekend!)

• Go on big ferris wheel at the waterfront (done)

• Swim at new Eastern Beach pool (done)

• Do the Bollard walk! (I have been saying this for years!)
(This still evades me…summer's not over though!!)
No. 13 Bathing beauties...2 of the 4 busty ladies!

• Go to the Water Adventure Park in Wallington (Smashed it…massive fun!)

• Go to the pool (Leisure link and also Kardinia outside pool) (done and done)

• Go to the beach (done…rediscovered Torquay and LOVED IT!)

• Miss 7s birthday party (done – gorgeous!)

• Go to Fairy Park (Not done but we have been there before!)

• Visit various friends/family
(Done, although lots of people came to us this summer which was lovely!)

Maybe things if we have time

• Go to the zoo (didn’t have time)

• Australia Day Eve fireworks at waterfront (done!)

Jobs

• Paint deck (done!)

• Sand outdoor table (not done!)

• Go to the dentist (not done, oops!)

• Get haircuts (done!)

I think that is a bloody great effort if I do say so myself! Hopefully I will be able to get some great “Back in G Town” blog posts out of our adventures! It has been a summer full of family and friends catch ups and festivities and it has been awesome. The other upside is that summer is not over! Yay!!
As I have said before, I bloody LOVE summer!
