I am just loving being part of Fat Mum Slim's Photo a Day challenge. It is getting the creative juices flowing and who would have thought about what trips down memory lane it would enable. This pic is of our old letter box and the new. When dynamo Nonna got her new fence built it meant taking down the old letter box...we just couldn't throw it out and so it’s sitting at the back of the garden. She told me, her and dad bought it at the Lara plant farm (its now called Roraima Nursery) when they had just moved in the house, circa 1975. It was just plain wood and then dad painted it in later years.
She said once about 20 years ago, some young kids were going around destroying letterboxes and this poor one copped it. The next day a local (who usually delivered the junk mail) bought it back after he found it in pieces a few streets away! My dad of course put it back together (he would have loved that project!) with a new chain and all. I love that letter box!
