Leura Park Estate Winery
This would have to be one of the most pleasant ways to spend an afternoon. We had lunch at Leura Park Estate Winery on the Bellarine Peninsula and were lucky enough to get some glimpses of winter sun.
We were spoilt to lunch by my brother’s girlfriend as a thank you for helping her out with some cat minding duties which was very unnecessary but very much appreciated. Miss 3 and Miss 6 were remarkably well behaved which may have had something to do with the ability to wonder around the lovely grounds, play a bit of quoits and also listen to a duo singing and playing music.
The food was tasty, a selection of pizzas and tasting plates but a little on the small side. I had the “triage of pies" – beef & mushroom, chicken curry and spinach & ricotta in filo. Service was a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry. Big fat chips for the kids kept them happy although Miss 6, (connoisseur of all things tomato sauce) said that this one was not to her liking! (Was homemade and delicious).
The standout would have had to be the dessert (the only one of offer by the way), a beautiful fudgy chocolate cake served with cream and a strawberry. The kids demolished theirs and we fought over the crumbs of ours.
Lovely wine (I am not a connoisseur) but I enjoyed a very smooth pinot noir! Ahhh, lazy Sundays with family or friends. This week I am linking up with “Sundays in my City” – check out what people all around the world are doing on their Sundays!
